Was Imus right? Celebrities weigh in on the State of Black America in 2007
Was Imus right?
According to comedian Damon Wayans, Don Imus was right.
During his November 7, 2007 appearance on ABC's controversial show "The View," Wayans says, "Freedom of speech, what happened to that? What happened to expressing yourself?," Wayans asked. "At least I know where Don Imus stands. And you know what? When he called them nappy-headed ho's, I went, 'Wow, he's right!' Black people at home are laughing right now. White people are going, 'That's not right!' It's all cultural," said Wayans.
Do African American display self hate in our own media?
As part of the 2007: The Black Year in Review Podcast Series, we asked readers, civil rights leaders and celebrities like BET co-founder Dr. Sheila Johnson and Grammy award winning rapper Rhymefest who co-wrote "Jesus Walks" with Kanye West to weigh in on the State of Black America. I Love New York 2 Reunion: SOLOMON WISE and fans weigh in on the show
Who wants to wait to January to discuss the I Love New York 2 show?
We asked our MySpace friends, I Love New York 2 cast members and fans to weigh in on the show.
Tailor Made spit on him. New York dumped him. But Mr. Wise is proving that he's going to have the last laugh.
In his exclusive interview with BlackPressRadio.com, Solomon Wise discusses the show, New York's decision to stay with George "Tailor Made" Weisgerber and more.
So what did Tiffany "New York" Pollard have to say about picking a guy who spit on someone the way Pumkin spit on her?
"That night was one of the toughest nights in the house. I had every producer of the show in my bedroom and we were sitting up there for three hours. They were trying to convince me it might not work, he spit on somebody, that’s an assault, blah blah blah. I’m like, "Look, you guys, he’s the only guy in the house that I’m feeling to the point where I’m ready to do everything with him on a physical level, mental, every level. This is the guy. This is the one," New York said in her exit interview after the I Love New York 2 finale. "It took me a while to convince them, and I’m so glad I fought for him at that moment. Because if I were to cut him because he spit, I don't know who I would've ended up with and I don't if it would be as real as this is," she said. New York and Tailor Made broke their contract with VH1 and have been living together since the show.
But, Mr. Wise is back in a big way and you won't believe what he's up to now. Plus, MySpace member Serendipitee weighs in on the show, Mr. Wise and more. You won't hear this anywhere else.

Dr. Donda West Podcast Series: 911 tape release causes controversy
Caution: Contents may be disturbing
Dr. Donda West 911 tape release causes controversy
(BlackPressMagazine.com) - Shortly before her death, BlackPressRadio.com interviewed Dr. West. She was one of the most charming people of the year. That's why listening to the 9-1-1 audio tape of the late Dr. Donda West released by the Los Angeles City Fire Department officials was not nearly as disturbing as thinking about the fact that people assigned to her care were unaware of how to do CPR or the fact that the tape is available at all.
The 8-minute logging tape was made from the home of Dr. West, who was had undergone cosmetic surgery the day before. The caller reported West had gone unconscious. The call then documents the repetition of every question that the LAFD dispatcher tried to ask the woman, who could barely be heard on a speaker phone. When paramedics arrived, West could not be revived.
Just a couple of weeks ago, Black Press spoke directly to Dr. Jan Adams who was on call for his Los Angeles, CA-based plastic surgery business. He was shockingly nice, charasmatic and very attentive. Talking with him helped seal my decision that he's being set up to take the fall in this particular case. While we're uncertain what happened in his previous cases, settlements or practices, it may no longer be the case that Dr. Adams is as guilty as the public has been led to believe.
So Black Press is stuck in between being upset about the way a great woman died and being upset about the way a Black doctor is being portrayed. We hope that by listening to our interview with Dr. West you'll remember her for the woman that she was and not the decision that she made. We hope that the release of the tape will help bring closure to this horrific situation.
The National Public Safety Telecommunications Council (NPSTC) has posted a White Paper on in-building radio communications, setting out the best practices available to maximize reception for 911 operators and dispatchers. The paper covers the obvious technical challenges of providing 100% coverage within structures, but also zoning or building regulations that require property owners to provide technical solutions to improving coverage within their buildings. What color is Black love? Interracial Love Reality Show sparks controversy, national VH1 boycott
What color is Black love?
When scriptwriter LaTasha Jones was tapped to create the treatment for the upcoming reality TV program, Interracial Love Reality Show, she had no idea how it would change her life. Based on the life of Tobias White, a White divorced father of three bi-racial sons, the underground fanbase for the show has created a year of controversy and even a national boycott of Viacom's VH1 Network. The show even sparked an article in the tabloid National Enquirer magazine.
So why all the fuss?
White says it's because Viacom and VH1 felt the women on the reality dating show wouldn't be "ghetto enough." According to White, a Black employee of the VH1 Network said his bosses felt that the Black dating contestants would not be believable if they weren't ghetto like Flavor of Love's Chandra "Deelishis" Davis or I Love New York's Tiffany "New York" Pollard, both on the VH1 Network or Viacom's MTV Network's new show, Snoop Dogg's Fatherhood.
But the fame didn't come without a steep price. The commotion led Jones and White to part ways but he's still shopping the show, which he says is close to being picked up by a major network.

Boxing legend Floyd Mayweather KNOCKS OUT Ricky Hatton
When welterweight champion Floyd G. Mayweather, Jr. entered the ring during December 8's historic fight, he had more than his fans behind him. Mayweather's epic fight against undefeated British champion was as much about race as it was about history. "I've always wanted to fight in the UK," Mayweather confessed. "When I wasn't able to fight in the UK we brought the best of the UK here to fight me. That's Ricky Hatton," said Mayweather. The Mayweather/Hatton bout was so intensely debated that it split White Americans down the middle, many of whom were cheering for the British fighter to walk away with the world title. A video posted on the Black Press Channel of YouTube was evidence of the intense racial tension surrounding the fight. << MORE >>

THE WIRE: Sexy actor Ryan Sands who plays "Officer Truck on HBO's hit cable TV series, "The Wire," talks about landing the role of a lifetime in this exclusive interview with BlackPressRadio.com.
Since Season 3, Ryan has been featured as Officer “Truck” Garrick on the show which enters its 5th and final season on January 6, 2008.
THE WIRE: Actor from HBO's hit series The Wire speak with BlackPressRadio.com
A low-level Barksdale dealer and sidekick to Bodie Broadus, Poot (above) is, as they say, for the ladies.
Frequently derided for his constant pursuit of corner girls, Poot is just as frequently a visitor to the University Hospital clinic for sexual transmitted diseases. Growing up in the towers and finding work selling heroin and cocaine in the low-rises alongside Bodie and Wallace, Poot was hesitant when word came down from Stringer to execute Wallace to prevent him from becoming a witness against the organization.
Bodie took the lead in that murder, but, after wounding their friend and then hesitating, Bodie had the gun grabbed from his hand by Poot, who finished the killing - more an act of compassion for the dying Wallace, than a cold-blooded slaying. Caught on the wiretaps in the second Barksdale probe, Poot is doing a short bit in Jessup on his first serious adult charge.
Chaney has been featured as "Poot" on HBO's THE WIRE for several seasons and will return for the 5th and final season that begins on January 6, 2008.
